Ash trees in Southwestern Ontario have been ravaged by Emerald Ash Borer, an invasive asian beetle species which burrows just under the bark of trees in the fraxinus genus, feeding on the tender cambium and leaving behind maze-like tunnel marks.
Many ash trees have been killed by emerald ash borer infestations, including my in-laws front yard tree, which has found new life in many of the family’s projects, including as framing in this piece. Others, like the younger specimen pictured within, valiantly resprout after an ash borer attack.
