A humorous reflection of my experiences of invisibility as a queer and disabled artist, relating my own experiences of invisibility in plain sight to examples of urban nature, bold colourful displays scarcely noticed by passers-by.

On young silver maple street plantings, sunburst lichen (Xanthoria parietina) appear as (often surprisingly evenly spaced bold, yellow polka dots on a silver background. And yet, these bold displays go unnoticed. Converted to a repeating pattern for use in textile designs and more, this piece marks a new direction in my tree bark studies.
